Celebrity Blackjack Tournaments

Join Hollywood stars as they match their blackjack skills against a rather formidable dealer, pro player "Hollywood Dave" Stann.

On the line? A huge purse for the charity of their choice.

Hosted by Matt Vasgersian (World Series of Blackjack), this show has aired for two seasons on the Game Show Network, and a third season is expected.

Below are summaries for all televised episodes so far:

Celebrity Blackjack Tournament #1

Tournament 1-Game 1 (July 5th, 2004)

  • Jason Alexander
  • Snoop Dog
  • Shannon Elizabeth
  • Camryn Manheim
  • Kevin Nealon

Through most of the game, it's a hard-fought duel between Alexander and Elizabeth, with Snoop and Manheim providing the comic relief and losing large sums of money. It comes down to the secret final bets in the 21st hand, and the cards go Shannon's way. She finishes with $191,000. Snoop Dog is second with $60,000. Jason Alexander ends with $50,500. Camryn ends with only $500, and Nealon busts out completely.

Winner: Shannon Elizabeth

Tournament 1-Game 2 (July 12th, 2004)

  • Richard Belzer
  • Andy Dick
  • Chynna Phillips
  • Mark Steines
  • Marissa Jaret Winokur

The betting is out of control on this episode, with almost everyone playing fast and loose. Chynna Phillips, who seems as though she's never even played blackjack, has a run of luck and finds herself in the final hand against Winokur after several others bust out. And, to everyone's surprise, Chynna's luck holds out and she wins the game.

Winner: Chynna Phillips

Tournament 1-Game 3 (July 19th, 2004)

  • Dean Cain
  • Eddie Griffin
  • Melissa Joan Hart
  • Jamie Kennedy
  • Hal Sparks

This match featured a lot of laughs with the likes of Jamie Kennedy and Eddie Griffin, as well as a number of fast-paced lead changes. Eddie Griffin starts out hot, but falters after losing some high bets. Dean Cain begins slow but builds momentum as the game progresses. Ultimately, he has such a commanding lead that all he has to do is bet the minimum amount to assure himself a tie for first. But he does one better and wins the whole thing outright.

Winner: Dean Cain

Tournament 1-Game 4 (July 26th, 2004)

  • Shannen Doherty
  • Willie Garson
  • D.L. Hughley
  • Bijou Phillips
  • Caroline Rhea

Hughley starts strong but falls behind and then busts out. Rhea has a horrible beginning, losing at every hand. But she hangs in there and gets on a hot streak, dramatically increasing her winnings with several large bets. It all comes down to Rhea against Garson, with Caroline only wagering $5000 for her secret bet and walking away the winner.

Winner: Caroline Rhea

Tournament 1-Game 5 (August 2nd, 2004)

  • William Baldwin
  • "Stuttering" John Melendez
  • Shelley Morrison
  • Rodney Peete
  • Ben Stein

These celebrities are far more conservative when it comes to betting, and we see several lead changes over the course of a very tight game. Most of the time, only a few thousand dollars separate the players, and Ben Stein seems determined to bet the minimum bet first on most rounds. The game concludes with a series of blackjacks by the players and the dealer, with Ben Stein eventually betting $100,000 on his secret final bet and walking away with $25,000 for his favorite charity.

Winner: Ben Stein

Tournament 1-Game 6 (August 9th, 2004)

  • William Baldwin
  • Shannon Elizabeth
  • Dean Cain
  • Caroline Rhea
  • Ben Stein

The championship game features high stakes and high tensions as the remaining celebrities face-off for charity. Ben Stein continues to play conservative and has a strong showing throughout, while Caroline Rhea makes large bets and sees huge dividends. In the end, Dean Cain is just out of the lead, while Shannon Elizabeth is all but out. Caroline Rhea stands unexpectedly on the final hand and the dealer busts, giving Rhea the win with a total of $348,500. She takes home $100,000 for her two charities, and we wrap up an exciting first season of Celebrity Blackjack.

Tournament Winner: Caroline Rhea

Celebrity Blackjack - Season Two

Tournament 2-Game 1 (October 12th, 2004)

  • Jason Alexander
  • Steve Howey
  • Ricki Lake
  • Jeff Probst

The first episode of season 2 is marked by wild hands and even wilder wagers. In the end, it comes down to Howey, Probst, and Alexander, with Ricki Lake busting out on a maximum bet. In the end, Jason Alexander wins a close game.

Winner: Jason Alexander

Tournament 2-Game 2 (October 19th, 2004)

  • Jamie-Lynn DiScala
  • Dave Navarro
  • Gabrielle Reece
  • Tori Spelling

Big bets and big losses mark this game, as each celebrity seems to have a clear strategy. Navarro and Reece are eliminated on the 17th hand, and on the final hand it all comes down to two players, with Jamie-Lynn DiScala getting the narrow victory.

Winner: Jamie-Lynn DiScala

Tournament 2-Game 3 (October 26th, 2004)

  • Lance Bass
  • Chris Harrison
  • Kevin Hart
  • Kathy Najimy

Bass and Harrison lead throughout most of the game, but everyone has a shot by the final hand. NSYNC jokes run wild, and watch for some interesting antagonism between the players and the dealer.

Winner: Lance Bass

Tournament 2-Game 4 (November 2nd, 2004)

  • Coolio
  • Meat Loaf
  • Cheryl Hines
  • Mathew St. Patrick

This game features strong play throughout by all players involved, and it's really anybody's game by the final hand. Coolie shows his staying power and picks up the win.

Winner: Coolio

Tournament 2-Game 5 (November 9th, 2004)

  • Dayna Devon
  • Camryn Manheim
  • Gary Valentine
  • Shannon Elizabeth

This game is out of control, as some celebrities kiss, others get drunk, and everyone generally bets like they're out of their minds. And it only gets worse and they approach the final hand! Shannon Elizabeth becomes the first celebrity to win in both seasons.

Winner: Shannon Elizabeth

Tournament 2-Game 6 (November 16th, 2004)

  • Adam Carolla
  • Giuliana DePandi
  • Dennis Rodman
  • Marissa Jaret Winokur

Dennis Rodman's strategy proves less than sound, while the bets continue to run high (even going up to $100,000 for one hand). Carolla was busted out by the final hand, and it all came down to Marissa and Giuliana, with Giuliana getting the win.

Winner: Giuliana DePandi

Tournament 2-Game 7 (November 23rd, 2004)

  • Steve Harris
  • John Henson
  • David Higgins
  • "Stuttering" John Melendez

This one came down to Henson, Higgins, and Harris. Steve Harris busted, and Higgins needed a 7 or 8 on a double down to win. He doesn't get either, and John Henson wins after bringing up the rear for most of the night.

Winner: John Henson

Tournament 2-Game 8 (November 30th, 2004)

  • Daniel Baldwin
  • Stephen Baldwin
  • William Baldwin
  • Caroline Rhea

The Baldwin brothers (minus Alec) take on the reigning Celebrity Blackjack champion is this special episode. The combined Baldwin might is not enough, as the defending champion once again walks away the winner.

Winner: Caroline Rhea

Tournament 2-Game 9 (December 7th, 2004)

  • Warren G.
  • Ralphie May
  • Sara Rue
  • Carnie Wilson

The celebrities get off to a slow start in this one, but things get more intense as the game goes on. There's lots of cursing and drunken behavior, and two players are essentially out by the final hand. It comes down to Warren G. and Sara Rue, with Warren G. getting the win.

Winner: Warren G.

Tournament 2-Game 10 (December 14th, 2004)

  • Carrie Fisher
  • Kelli Williams
  • Eric Roberts
  • Chynna Phillips

Odd behavior and odd betting patterns seem to be the theme of this episode. A close match, with the winner not being decided until the final card. Chynna Phillips had no chance to win, but the others were all in contention. Finally, Kelli Williams pulled out the win after standing on 17.

Winner: Kelli Williams

Tournament 2-Game 11 (December 28th, 2004)

  • Caroline Rhea
  • Jeff Probst
  • Kelli Williams
  • John Henson
  • Warren G.

With the reigning champion and a celebrity who wasn't scheduled to appear, you know that anything could happen during this semi-final match. It starts conservative, but trash-talk soon ensues, as well as mind games. By the final hand, everyone is still in the game, and the dealer gets a blackjack to send Jeff Probst and Kelli Williams to the championship game.

Winners: Jeff Probst and Kelli Williams

Tournament 2-Game 12 (January 4th, 2005)

  • Jamie Lynn DiScala
  • Jason Alexander
  • Giuliana DePandi
  • Lance Bass
  • Coolio

The second semi-final match features big betting and the kind of unusual celebrity that we've come to expect in Season 2. By the time the final hand arrives, only Bass and Alexander have a realistic shot, and they both end up advancing to the finals.

Winners: Lance Bass and Jason Alexander

Tournament 2-Game 13 (January 11th, 2005)

  • Jeff Probst
  • Kelli Williams
  • Jason Alexander
  • Lance Bass

This is it. The final game of Season 2.

A tight game, with strategies ranging from reckless to conservative. Bass busts out after hand 15, and one celebrity insults another's charity. But in the end, it all comes down to the cards, and Jason Alexander proves to have the hot hand, as he picks up the win and $250,000 for his favorite charity.

Tournament Winner: Jason Alexander
