Big Chuck Gorson - Blackjack Player

Information About Blackjack and Poker Player Chuck Gorson

Standing 6 feet 8 inches tall, "Big" Chuck Gorson is a larger than life character. He's also a very successful gambler, having earned a six-figure income in each of the last 15 years.

Gorson once owned a successful chain of talent and modeling agencies. But after winning $50,000 in a 1989 Aladdin Casino blackjack tournament, Gorson sold his businesses and devoted himself to gambling full-time.

Since then, he's become one of the world's best all-around gamblers, winning tournaments at slots, craps, blackjack, roulette, and almost every other game imaginable. If you can wager on it, chances are that Chuck has tried it at least once.

He's won $12,000 on craps at the MGM Grand. $25,000 on blackjack at the Tropicana. $10,000 on poker during a Seascape Cruise. $25,000 in a triathlon (blackjack, slots, roulette) at Resorts Casino. Even $175,000 in baccarat at the Trump Marina, with the check personally presented by Donald Trump.

On gambling, Chuck was once quoted as saying, "This is a business for me. It's how I feed my ex-wives, my children. If I'm not winning, I'm not playing."

Chuck is best known by many for his appearance on the premier episode of the reality show The Casino. He swaggered through the doors of the Golden Nugget casino with $75,000 in cash, looking to take advantage of the new owners of the casino. A known card counter, security watched him very closely. As the evening went on, Chuck kept winning money but also became increasingly intoxicated. He ended up hitting on every woman who passed by, often using lewd pick-up lines or waving wads of money at them.

He eventually picked up a blonde, but on the way back to the blackjack table, he became fascinated by a woman in red sitting at a nearby table. He ignored the blonde and moved in for the kill. This woman in red (who also had a very deep voice) was receptive to Chuck's advances, and the duo soon retired to her room. It was then that we learned the woman was actually a man in drag. The couple went to the room, but the cameras left us wondering exactly what happened.

When he came back down to the tables, the crowd informed him of the "woman's" gender. While Chuck hung his head, everyone got a good laugh. Meanwhile, the owners of the casino were just happy to have gotten Chuck away from the blackjack table for a little while.

Such antics have made Chuck a very recognizable star in Las Vegas. In fact, he has been invited to appear on numerous nationally syndicated radio and talks shows, including The Howard Stern Show, The Mark and Brian Show, The Vegas Show, and many others. There has even been talk of Chuck getting his own reality show, but nothing has materialized to this point.

Chuck is also working on his first book, From Fish to Whale. Part autobiography and part instruction manual, this work is bound to make an impact when it is completed.

Recently, Chuck competed in the Ultimate Blackjack Tour, televised on CBS. In the preliminary match, Chuck defeated Henry Tamburin, editor of the Blackjack Insider Newsletter, on the final hand. This secured Chuck a seat at the final table and an appearance on national television.

The show was scheduled for 10 weeks, and "Big" Chuck made an appearance on the very first episode. His opponents were Ken Smith, "Hollywood" Dave Stann, Michael Castellana, Michael Postle, Alex Brenes, and "Miami" John Cernuto. Unfortunately, a run of bad luck made Chuck the first player to be eliminated.

But don't count out "Big" Chuck. He's been living the high roller lifestyle for 15 years and shows no sign of letting up. It's not a question of whether or not he'll win. It's simply a question of what game will he win at?
